Thule 9010 Archway Rear Mounted 3 Bike Rack Review

This is the Rolls Royce of trunk bike racks. I recommended it until it broke after one year.

Pros:
- Versatile. Fits just about any vehicle.
- Locks bikes to the rack.
- Locks rack to the car.
- Sway clips are a nice touch.
- Does not damage my car and arms fold up when not holding bikes.
- With one exception, does everything it claims to do.

Cons:
- Does NOT hold three full size bikes. Barely holds two.
- Did not have easy-setup help for my car, had to wing it.
- Arms aren't particularly easy to move once unlocked, but the manual provides decent advice for this.
- Might be able to find something comparable made in the USA.
- Does not include wheel stops. (I used bungee cords.)
- The nubs on the "Stay Put Cradles" broke after less than one year of light use. "Anti sway straps" now can't attach well = bikes fall off.

This rack spends six months a year in storage, so only sees the sun 6 months a year. I had bikes on this thing maybe twelve times and now it's unusable without serious improvisational rigging. Thule support isn't open on Mondays, so I have to wait 'til tomorrow to call them. If they make right, I'll add another star back, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to add more than that. If I pay $200 for a bike rack I don't expect to replace several parts annually if I've only used it a handful of times.

This is a tail light assembly and the description states it's an LED Tail Light...

However, there are three filament bulbs required for this assembly which are not mentioned and not included. The running and brake lights are indeed LED. It wouldn't be a bad product if they just described it truthfully. As it is, it took some amount of time to figure out not all the bulbs were led. I was just about to RMA the product before noticing he filament bulb holders.

Perhaps 'untruthful' is a bit harsh, but I have little patience in purchasing products like this when the description appears designed to hide something.

Anyway the fit is good and they look good.

This is a review I wrote for a motorcycle specific website but I thought it would be useful here.

I put a set of Angel GTs on my 1200 Multistrada at the recommendation of my dealer's service manager. They replaced the OEM Scorpions, which lasted under 4000 miles. I now have an additional 3000 miles on the bike (and the Pirelli Angel GTs) and they have been excellent. I've worn the rear tire edge to edge, (no more "Angel GT" script there) but the tire has not squared off and it looks like another 4000 miles or more will be easy to attain.
The MTS is a big, powerful bike that eats tires when used in battle mode and the fact that the Angel GTs grip solidly and will return upwards of 8000 miles on a heavy bike has me convinced that Pirelli was deadly serious when they introduced this tire. They did very well in rain, didn't aquaplane, loose steering sensitivity or their connected feel on a cold, wet ride between Portland OR and Shasta City, CA. Turn in is neutral and immediate without being overly sensitive and they do not fall into turns, something that the Scorpions they replaced had a tendency to do.
Pirelli has a solid hit with this tire for those of us who want excellent real world road performance and long wear. They work right from the start even when cold too. And, their ride is compliant and comfortable as well.
The one thing I should mention is that they do seem sensitive to pressure. Overinflation will make them feel less secure and somewhat greasier. I noticed this when experimenting with pressures while seeking to find the ideal for my bike and riding style. As it happens, for me the recommended pressures worked best on the road.
Highly recommended and finally a worthy competitor to the PR3. In fact, it's hard to know how they could have done much better with them. I will replace these with another set when they are finally worn.

Lights looks good on my truck. They are very bright. Only one down side is the plugs on the back don't really fit snug, but it has rained and have not noticed any condensation. Hopefully they will last a long time.
