Initially bought the wrong size for my truck (Amazon was awesome with the return, got my money back even before they got their package back!), but I was impressed with the quality so I reordered in the correct size. The wrong size rails were all metal, the stanchon ends included. They had heft to them. Both the rail and the ends were powdered coated semi gloss black and matched perfectly. They looked great, high end. Unfortunately it appears the design has changed. The stanchon ends are now plastic, albeit impact plastic. Although I don't doubt they'll hold up (they used the appropriate type of plastic at least), they not longer match the rail perfectly (noticeable up close, but NOT from a few feet away to be fair). The rail is also painted a textured black (my guess it was to better match the plastic ends), its not longer a semi gloss. My concern would be that since the ends and rail are no longer painted the same (as the ends are just black plastic), and are different material, as they age the difference in appearance will get even more noticeable. For $200, it looks/feels cheaper than what the other version was. My guess is that this is the new design of the unit, maybe the wrong sized one was last year's model.

In the end, I'm keeping them. Why? Well, too much hassle to ship them back (again). Also, the plastic ends up matching the plastic used on my truck (mud guards, bumper ends, bumper top, etc). Lastly, another unit from a different manufacture that *IS* all metal and of similar design all start at $300 and up, I got these for less than $200. I also can't be certain I'll get last years model if I reorder from Amazon or elsewhere.

Can't recommend them at this time. My dad is looking at a Putco rail for his truck and I've encouraged him to look elsewhere. I think you should too if all metal components and matched color is important to you.

Emailed Putco with my displeasure, they were very quick to respond and seemed to have great Customer Service. It appears I was sent the right box (has the right part number) but the contents of the box was a DIFFERENT model of rails (with nylon rail ends). This is a lower end model. It appears to be a Putco issue, not an Amazon mistake. they are working on the issues and I'll update review when I have more information. I would hold off ordering this item for now until it can be verified that Amazon's stock isn't all wrong.

Putco confirmed design change in the product, no longer all metal for this model. The admitted to incorrect information on their website, vendor's websites and on the actual box and will be making those changes. So, I back up my thoughts that this is NOT a $200 set of rails as other nylon end models sell for $130. I will state that they DID 'make good' on the issue by giving me some free Putco product to make up the difference, so in the end I'm satisfied. Good customer service. I stand by my 2 star rating based on price for this product.
