Mickey Thompson Classic Lock Polished Wheel (17x9"/8x6.5") Review

I purchased four rims when I was renovating my H1 Hummer. I wanted the simulated bead-lock rims because I was replacing the original bead-locks and I liked the look. The renovation took a few months, during that time I had the tires mounted, balanced, and the rims installed.

However, when everything was finished, I went to install the bead-lock ring and ALL of the holes in one rim were not threaded completely! Clearly they were defective, but when I tried to initiate a return, Amazon informed me that the period to do so had expired. So not only do I have to eat the mounting and balancing charges ($45 for one rim on a H1 Hummer), I have one rim that does not look like any of the others.

In my opinion, when there is a defect that is this egregious that can be shown to be CLEARLY a manufacturing defect, there should be absolutely no conditions on a replacement wheel and it should be shipped immediately. Not only that, since I drive this regularly, I would expect that a replacement rim would be sent BEFORE I had to pay more money for the re-mount and balancing because otherwise my vehicle will be sitting in the tire shop for the entire time it takes to remove the defective rim, ship it in, wait for the replacement to arrive, then pay to re-mount it. No tire shop will be willing to store my vehicle for however many weeks that will take.

I'm really disappointed in the policy on this. To resolve it, I might have to buy an new (fifth) rim to fix something that is not my fault.

Beware when buying these rims!

****************UPDATE**************: Amazon agreed to send a replacement rim ahead of needing to send the defective one back. I still have to eat the mounting and balancing charges, but I have 4 matching rims now. Upgrading the review from one to three stars due to the change in their service policy that they made, but I still think that the defect should be addressed if it is common on these rims.
