BiLT Women's Calypso Mesh Motorcycle Jacket - LG, Black/Black Review

I love this jacket! I'd been searching for a mesh motorcycle jacket for our ride to Ecuador and only found terribly bulky men's jackets that were really expensive and weren't meant for a woman's body. This jacket was really well priced and really well made. Actually, I got it on sale, but I probably would have paid full-price for it had I seen it in a store after trying it on.

It has ample protection while being light. Usually you have to sacrifice that if you want protection, but they've made it work. The elbow shields and back padding aren't noticeable once you're riding. It also keeps me cool despite being black and it hugs my body in a flattering way. The collar fits a little wonky on one side, but it might correct itself once it's broken in. If not, I can tack it a little because the mandarin collar is a really nice feature.

I have saddlebags and a tank bag, so I can't tell you about how the pockets feel with stuff actually in them since I tend not to use them. There are two decent sized pockets on the front of the jacket and one inner breast pocket, so if I wanted I could fit my keys, iPhone and mini pocket book in the jacket without a problem.

It also runs true to size but still has a few adjustable snaps if you need to take it in. I'm between a medium and large, so I got the large and just took in the snaps on the arms. The waistband has elastic which not only hugs nicely but keeps the wind out while the mesh on the chest lets enough wind in to keep you comfortable. I'm glad I did because it can accommodate cyclical changes in my body (the sometimes frustrating bloating and boob madness! :-)without a problem.

I can't tell you how much I love having these. I bought 2 to use with some Crown XTIs in a rack. The value is just wonderful.

It comes with 2 front pull out lights, and a gooseneck back-rack light which is also included, not extra.

But the real superstar is the visible easily from 70 feet away LED displays of the house voltafe, and your immediate amperage reading.

Give you an example of how important each are in case you're not an electrical engineer. If the house voltage is reading high (above 125) you'll know that there is usually some risk of dangerous surge, but if its too LOW (114 and below) you'll know that the circuit you're on may not be healthy enough for sudden power demands.

But even better is the amp draw display. Its made diagnosing blown speakers more simple. Example: a speaker is blown somehow. If you're watching the amps and they never get higher than 5, then you know you're probably not using all of the watts on the amplifier when it blew. That leaves mechanical failure, or clipped signal allowing thermal failure (and NOT overpowering thermal failure). Both of these problems are easy to correct ahead of time.
