After realizing that my 2008 Honda Civic Si (FA5) was chewing up my Maximum Performance Summer tires on the rear wheels at twice the rate of the front tires even though I'm tuned to over 240 HP/175 lbft at the wheels (about 60 HP/45 lbft over stock) I discovered that nearly all Civic Si's of this vintage (and many of the LX/EXs as well, though Honda has a TSB to fix these) come from the factory with the camber at or even past the minimum spec I decided I needed to make a change. I looked at the various different options and settled on the Godspeed Gen2 adjustable control arms for what appears to be the best combination of quality and price to solve my problem. Installing these is very simple. Adjustment is very simple and whoever you'll have performing your alignment will greatly appreciate this setup. Machine work is clean, especially for a piece you can't really see once installed. The urethane bushings are quiet so far even though I couldn't find my silicone grease to apply prior to assembly. About the toughest part of the process was pushing the shaft through the upper bushings prior to installing the washers and spring clips. I ended up using a rubber mallet and the wooden edge of my workbench to get this set up. Overall I highly recommend these adjustable control arms if you need to alter your factory camber setting. Lots of folks lower their vehicles but aren't willing to spend the time and money to fix their alignment and handling under most circumstances suffers (and it looks foolish in my opinion). I'll end up saving the cost of this kit during the life of my next set of tires (20,000-30,000 miles) and will have the ability to tune camber in the negative direction if I decide to autocross or track my car where extreme camber can actually benefit handling and rapid tire wear becomes less of a concern.

Regarding installation: You'll need a 14mm socket, an extension or two and a ratchet to remove and replace the control arms. Having a swivel (universal) socket will make changing out the passenger side control arm a whole lot easier due to interference with the exhaust system. You'll also want to take a jack and slightly lift the axle assembly just outboard of the brake disk to take the load off of the lower bolt or else the entire assembly is going to rotate outward once the bolts are removed and make it a pain to reinstall. From there you will need two crescent wrenches and you can adjust the camber to within the ballpark of what it should be, snug down the jam nuts and you're ready to go get an alignment. Enjoy!

Autel MaxiDiag US703 Diagnostic Scan Tool Review

The scanner powers up quickly and overall seems a bit faster than the Actron. It's easy to use; as a guy I've yet to open any kind of manual for the Autel, yet was able to read by my check engine and ABS codes that are popping up on my vehicle. In playing with the Actron the other day I pulled up the screen to read all live data at once and scrolling down was very, very slow and the tool would lag when it was asked to display the next page of data. The Autel 703 scrolled through all the live data without any lag. I haven't exported any data to a PC yet so I can't tell you how well that works. On screen descriptions were provided for both PCM codes and ABS codes.

I have an Actron 9185, which is the same as the 9190 without all the OBD 1 connectors for pre-1996 vehicles. The Actron is a great tool, but I needed to read ABS codes and the Autel was about $50 more than the Actron ABS reader only, and the Autel 703 reads ABS, Airbag, and Tranny codes, so for the extra few bucks I figured it's worth a try, and I can always sell the Actron. I paid about $50 more for the Actron 9185 than I paid for the Autel 703.

The tool is new and there don't appear to be any updates on the manufacturers site. I do expect Actron to have more frequent updates based on other online reviews. The Autel 703 DOES NOT come with the connectors to connect to pre-1996 vehicles though the software supports them. I have not seen the cables for sale anywhere.

As a hard core DIY mechanic that likes to troubleshoot and fix almost everything with my vehicles, I would recommend the Autel 703 because of the number of systems it reads, and at a lower price point than other products.

07-11 2011 Dodge Nitro S/S Nerf Step Side Bars Review

These bars appear to be pretty well manufactered. They are actually polished stainless steel. They fit perfectly. There is one thing I will advise.. do not tighten the screws all the way down and your application will be a snap. I learned this by having to re-loosen a few screws(even the directions stated not to do it!). The second side went on in 10 minutes. Also make sure that you lay out all the screw,washers ect... this will make things so much easier.
